Hackney City Farm entry building

2012 // London, UK // public building - store - information center // study

  Overview

The development of the entrance building at Hackney City Farm in the City of London was a great opportunity for a wood structure building configuration. Our study was based on the idea of the Front-Façade urban typology during the emigration expansion towards the west during the gold rush in United States. Following this concept the project is shaped only by a façade. The volume behind the façade rolls towards the existing perimeter wall conducting the rain water away from the main street entrance. The façade becomes an urban decoration to the street and a store shelf complex for product exhibition to the interior connecting visually both ambiances through an open paneled window grid.
